Mothering Sunday at The White Hart Tap was a busy yet relaxed atmosphere with plenty of Mum’s taking centre stage and enjoying the break from the cooking and washing up.
Roast Beef and Roast Leg of Lamb were the two main options for Roast dinner, accompanied by our Vegetarian Roast, which has been voted best in St Albans by the St Albans Blog.
Our Sunday Roasts were again sold out, with the Roast Beef selling out last Thursday from pre orders!
This highlights the need to book in advance to avoid disappointment for our popular Roast dinner. Check the blog weekly to find out what meat will be available alongside the Roast Beef.

The White Hart Tap curry night is coming soon. Each Monday night we will be creating a curry from a different region of the world.
The first curry night will be on Monday 29th March between 6.30pm and 9pm. We will be kicking off our weekly event with a Chicken Balti from Pakistan. This will be served with Basmati Rice and Naan bread. A vegetable curry will also be available.
The curries will be freshly cooked to order and is priced at a very reasonable £6.75.
Poppadoms served with lime pickle, mango chutney and onion salad will be available as a side dish.
Call now on 01727 860974 to book your curry.
The celebration of St. Patrick is upon us once more. To mark the event this year the White Hart Tap will be offering a range of Irish delights to help you get in the mood.
We will be serving from the kitchen; Irish Stew, Oxtail braised in Guinness and Irish Sausages served with Colcannon and Whisky sauce. These will be available throughout the week.
In addition as St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Wednesday this year we will be coinciding it with our weekly quiz, which will have an Irish theme to it.
As expected we will have the usual irish drinks including Guinness and Jameson’s whiskey.
So come and raise a glass/knife/fork to St. Paddy at The Tap!
This week’s quiz was up to its usual high standard with the winning score once again over the 50 point mark.
This weeks winners were “Thelma’s Fat Armpit” with “Wotsits” coming in 2nd place.
I understand this is an alternate team name for the regular “Nitwits”. Apparently they use “Wotsits” when Angela is not in attendance. Personally, Angela, I think they’re just trying to distance themselves from you!
Our French Food Night is on Thursday March 25th from 6.30 p.m. until 8.30 p.m when we have a three course meal for £14.95.
Booking is advisable either call into the pub or ring 01727 860974.
To start with a classic French Onion Soup served with a Gruyere Crouton, followed by Confit De Canard, a slow cooked duck leg in a cherry and red wine sauce, sauteed potatoes and green beans. For dessert a traditional Creme Brulee.
Bon Appetit!!
