Beer Festival Reminder

April 11th, 2011

The Lion Hart Beer Festival is making a new appearance this year over the Easter Weekend.

The White Lion, Sopwell Lane and ourselves will be hosting the event starting Good Friday, 22nd April and running until Monday 25th April.

The Beer Festival will feature over 35 different real ales, ciders and perries!

Also over that weekend is St Georges day so the Beer Festival will have an English theme (being called Lion Hart should help).

As well as a BBQ all weekend at both pubs, on St Georges Day (Saturday 23rd)  there will be a Hog Roast at the White Lion and at the White Hart Tap our Sausage Festival will be making an appearance.

On the Sunday there is live music on at the White Lion featuring Pete Waters and on the Monday at the Tap there is a family day with free food for the kids!

Summertime is here! (ish)

March 29th, 2011

This is to be my Mungo Jerry blog as it will detail what will be going on at the Tap ”in the summertime when the weather is high” (or low for that matter).

So the garden is mowed and some new picnic benches are on order so more people can enjoy the sun and beer of course!

As I mentioned in a blog earlier this year we are having our own pub allotment this year in the private garden attached to the pub, all thie digging has been done and the seeds are being propagated ready for planting and later in the summer will be able to offer our home grown vegetables on our menu, from picked to plate in under an hour, doesn’t get fresher than that!

We have the Easter Beer Festival in conjunction with the White Lion to look forward to in the not too distant future, as well as the annual Lion Hart August Bank Holiday Beer Festival.

In July we will be celebrating Independence Day with a Music Festival and all American BBQ!

Also we will be hosting our International Food Nights on a more regular basis over the summer months.

So there you have a small sample of what we have coming up in the summer, we look forward to seeing you at some if not all of our events!

As there is also a birthday in the pub on that date, there will be party music and probably dancing as well to raise the spirits.

The cocktails will be:

Schnaperetto (A WHT creation)

Pig Blog

March 1st, 2011

“Mum told me it was March today, I got confused and lined up with my brothers and sisters and started walking in time round the pen. I noticed when we were marching that none of my brothers and sisters have a green mark on their backs like me, guess I am special, I am the biggest after all!!

Haven’t seen that nice man who helped Kev feed us last week, he kept talking to me and said that lots of people who want to come and visit me, I hope so, I love visitors.

The students came back to college yesterday, some came to see me, think they have a new way to say hello, after a week of not seeing me they all held their noses and said “pwoar”, think i’ll do that next time I get visitors. Bye for now.”

Help For Heroes Fundraising Night

February 21st, 2011

The Help For Heroes Fundraising Night took place yesterday evening and was a huge success. The extremely generous customers of the WHT helped to raise £858.85 for the charity.

Frankie Martin played a superb set and got the crowd going and in clearly that combined with alcohol loosened the change in people’s pockets!

Frankie was followed by Free Electric Band who played a great set and kept the spirits high.

A truly great night at the tap combined with great generousity by our customers.

Thank you all.
